Booking Terms & Conditions
These Booking Terms & Conditions apply to bookings for China Textile & Cultural Tours operated by Patchwork Nabiac.
Please read these terms carefully before making a booking or paying your Deposit or Tour Balance. By making a payment towards your tour, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted these Booking Terms & Conditions.
1. Tour Price and Inclusions
The tour price and inclusions are those specified for your particular tour at the time of booking.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, tour prices are quoted in Australian dollars and include GST where applicable.
The tour price generally includes the accommodation, transport within China, guides, workshops, sightseeing, activities, meals and other arrangements specifically identified as inclusions in the published itinerary or booking information.
International airfares are not included in the tour price unless expressly stated otherwise.
Personal expenses, travel insurance, passport and visa costs (where applicable), optional activities, and other items not expressly identified as inclusions are the guest's responsibility.
2. Deposit and Securing Your Place
Our tours operate with small groups, and places are limited.
A $1,000 per person deposit is required to secure your place unless otherwise specified for a particular tour. We allocate places in the order deposits are received.
The deposit is refundable up to the Tour Balance due date for your tour. If you cancel before that date, we will refund your deposit.
After you pay the Tour Balance, we may begin committing funds to suppliers and making arrangements based on confirmed guest numbers. Any cancellation after that date will be dealt with in accordance with these terms and any applicable rights under Australian Consumer Law.
3. Final Payment — Tour Balance
You must pay the Tour Balance by the Final Payment Date specified for your tour.
For example:
- For the April 2027 China Textile & Cultural Heritage Tour, the Tour Balance is due by 1 November 2026.
- For the October 2027 China Textile & Cultural Heritage Tour, the Tour Balance is due by 1 June 2027.
The Tour Balance does not include international airfares unless expressly stated otherwise.
If we do not receive the Tour Balance by the due date, we reserve the right to treat the booking as cancelled, subject to any applicable rights under Australian Consumer Law.
4. Cancellation by You
We understand that circumstances can change.
If you cancel before the Tour Balance due date for your tour. we will refund your deposit.
Once the Tour Balance has been paid, we commit funds to hotels, transport providers, guides, workshops and other suppliers in China. Some or all of these payments may be non-refundable or subject to cancellation charges imposed by our suppliers.
For this reason, payments are generally non-refundable after the Tour Balance has been paid, except where you may have rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Please notify us in writing of any cancellation as soon as possible.
If we can recover money from a supplier after your cancellation, we will take this into account when determining any amount that may be refundable to you.
5. Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend comprehensive international travel insurance for all guests.
Your policy should provide appropriate cover for cancellation, illness, injury, medical expenses, loss of luggage and personal belongings, travel disruption and other unforeseen circumstances relevant to international travel.
We recommend arranging appropriate insurance as soon as your booking is confirmed and carefully checking what circumstances your policy covers.
Travel insurance is a separate arrangement between you and your insurer, and it is your responsibility to ensure the policy is suitable for your individual circumstances.
6. International Flights
International airfares are not included in our tour price.
For some tours, we may arrange for our travel agent to provide you with flight options or group pricing for guests who wish to travel together. Any international flight booking will be subject to the airline's and/or travel agent's applicable booking, amendment and cancellation conditions.
Guests may also arrange their own international flights. If arranging your own flights, you are responsible for ensuring your travel arrangements enable you to arrive in time for the commencement of our tour and depart after completion of our tour.
7. Passports, Visas and Entry Requirements
Guests are responsible for ensuring they hold a valid passport and satisfy all visa, immigration, health and entry requirements applicable to their travel.
- Until 31 December 2026, Australian citizens with ordinary passports can enter China visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism.
- For residents of other countries or those travelling on passports issued by other countries, you will need to check with a Chinese embassy or Chinese Visa Application Service Centre.
- For the 2027 tours, visa advice will be provided when the Chinese government updates its guidelines.
Entry requirements into China can change. Guests should ensure they have current information and comply with the requirements applying at the time of travel.
We will request your passport information (including a copy of your passport details) to arrange accommodation, transport, tickets or other tour services. If you do not provide us with this information, we will not be able to make bookings for you in China.
8. Health, Fitness and Mobility
Our tours do not require a high level of physical fitness, but guests should have reasonable mobility.
Touring may involve walking, stairs, uneven surfaces, historic towns and villages, getting on and off buses and trains, and handling your own luggage for short periods.
Some sightseeing locations may involve inclines or more walking than others.
If you have a medical condition, mobility limitation or other circumstance that may affect your participation in the tour, please discuss this with us before booking so we can provide information about the itinerary and consider whether reasonable assistance can be arranged (which may incur additional cost).
Guests remain responsible for determining whether the tour suits their individual health and mobility circumstances and should seek medical advice where appropriate.
9. Changes to the Itinerary
We plan our itineraries carefully, but international travel sometimes requires flexibility.
We may make reasonable changes to the itinerary, accommodation, transport, guides, workshops, sightseeing, activities or other arrangements where circumstances make this necessary or desirable.
Where practicable, we will substitute an equivalent or suitable alternative while seeking to maintain the tour's overall character and quality.
Minor changes to the itinerary will not ordinarily entitle a guest to cancel or receive a refund.
If a proposed change is substantial, we will communicate with affected guests and deal with the circumstances reasonably, having regard to these terms and any rights available under Australian Consumer Law.
10. Events Outside Our Control
Travel arrangements can be affected by circumstances outside our reasonable control (particularly in China), including severe weather, natural disasters, government actions or restrictions, border closures, transport disruption, industrial action, public health events, civil disturbance or other unforeseen events.
If such an event affects the tour, we will take reasonable steps to manage the situation and, where practicable, arrange suitable alternatives.
Your entitlement to a refund, credit, alternative arrangements or other remedy in these circumstances may depend upon the particular circumstances, amounts recoverable from suppliers, these Booking Terms & Conditions and your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
11. Cancellation by Us
We reserve the right to cancel a tour where it cannot reasonably proceed, including where circumstances outside our control make the tour impracticable or unsafe.
If we cancel a tour and cannot provide a suitable alternative, we will advise affected guests and deal with payments received in accordance with the circumstances, our supplier arrangements and applicable Australian Consumer Law.
Nothing in these terms limits any rights or remedies you may have under Australian Consumer Law.
12. Third-Party Suppliers
Our tours involve services supplied by third parties, including hotels, transport operators, airlines, local guides, attractions, workshop providers and other suppliers.
Those services may also be subject to the relevant supplier's terms and conditions.
We will exercise reasonable care in selecting and arranging suppliers, but some aspects of their services and operations are outside our direct control.
Nothing in this section excludes or limits any responsibility we have under Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
13. Behaviour and Participation
We want everyone to enjoy a safe, respectful and enjoyable small-group experience.
Guests are expected to behave reasonably and respectfully towards other guests, our hosts, guides, drivers, suppliers and members of the communities we visit, and to follow reasonable directions concerning safety and the operation of the tour.
We reserve the right to take reasonable action where a guest's conduct seriously affects the safety, wellbeing or enjoyment of other participants or materially disrupts the operation of the tour.
14. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Booking Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under the Australian Consumer Law.
Our cancellation and refund conditions apply in addition to those statutory rights.
15. Acceptance of These Terms
By paying your Deposit, Tour Balance or other amount towards the tour after these Booking Terms & Conditions have been provided or made available to you, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted them.
